Welcome to the Wards Corner 10K
Wards Corner 10K is a great way to celebrate the arrival of the fall season in scenic Wards Corner while supporting a worthy cause. Participants will enjoy a great run/walk through the picturesque Wards Corner, Talbot Park and Riverpoint neighborhoods.
The post race party will feature food from local vendors, beer from local breweries and live entertainment. All finishers receive a custom finisher medal

2nd Annual Wards Corner 10K Event Information
Wards Corner 10K is a celebration of the fall season to scenic Wards Corner in Norfolk with great run/walk through the scenic Wards Corner, Talbot Park and Riverpoint neighborhoods.
Race Course:
Wards Corner 10K starts and finishes on Talbot Hall Road in front of Episcopal Church of the Ascension 405 Talbot Hall Rd, Norfolk, VA 23505. 10K race starts promptly at 8 a.m. See Maps for full course desctiptions
Parking:
Free parking is available at the following locations Royster Presbyterian Church, Blessed Sacrament Church and Masonic Temple. See map for parking locations. The churches ask that you donate non-parishable food items for the homeless food pantry when you arrive. Please consider those less fortunate. Please do not park on residential streets.
Registration:
The registration fee is; $45 until 8/15/17, $50 8/16/17-10/13/16 and $55 on race day for all 10K participants, and includes: race number, official race T shirt, custom finisher medal, great post race party and more!
Best of Norfolk Series:
Coming back this year Mettle Events is offering a Best of Norfolk Challenge Race Series. This year, we are offering four races consisting of Heart of Ghent 10K on Sept 23, Riverview Village 1 Mile Dash on October 8, Wards Corner 10K on October 14 and the Tacky Sweater 5K on December 9. Register for one, or all four events and receive progressive discounted entry the more you register for. A custom series finisher medal will be presented at the Tacky Sweater 5K for participants completing the entire series. Also, series participants are eligible for Best of Norfolk overall and age group awards. Participants must register for the series at the time of entry. Registering for each event individually will not qualify you for discounts, finisher medals or awards.
Packet Pickup:
Early packet pick up will be on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the new Wards Corner Pivot Physical Therapy office located at 154 E. Little Creek Rd. Norfolk, VA 23505. Runners are encouraged to pick up early to avoid lines on race day. You may pick up packets for friends and family.

Awards:
Top three overall male and female 10K run and 10K walk winners and top three male and female runners in each age category will receive awards; 19 and under 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over.

We'll be giving away random gifts from our vendors and sponsors in a raffle at the post race party. Stick around for your chance to win.

Charity:
This race will benefit Samaritan House Samaritan House is Hampton Roads’ trusted domestic violence resource offering services to stop violence with education and training, safety planning and court assistance; and services to heal violence with counseling, support groups, children’s programs and more. Samaritan House is Virginia's largest emergency housing provider serving the community since 1984.
Post Race:
A post race party will be held in the parking lot beside Episcopal Church of the Ascension. Fresh hot pizza will be baked on site by Your Pie Pizza and craft beer from local Brewing Companies will be on tap. There will also be live music. The party continues all day throughout Wards Corner. Many restaurants and businesses will be offering specials throughout the day.

Live Race Day Results!
Register or check in at the expo using paperless registration kiosks. Bring your credit card.
Registered athletes and their fans will be able to sign up FREE to receive live split and finish results to mobile devices and/or Facebook and Twitter feeds register here.
Athletes bibs will contain a QR code that can be scanned with a smart phone and results will be immediately available on their mobile device.
Results will be posted live online here and at results kiosks near the finish.
Finisher videos will be posted on the results page putting all of the participant race stats and finisher video in one place.

Volunteer for the Wards Corner 10K
The success of MettleEvents races depends on volunteers who give their time and energy in a variety of ways in support of these events. Many volunteer positions for this event still need to be filled. We ask that you, your family or group please consider signing up for one of these positions.
As an event volunteer, you will receive great satisfaction appreciation from your fellow athletes and the event charities . Volunteering at this event can also provide you or your group with community services hours that may be needed. On top of that each volunteer will receive a free race premium and goodie bag as well as being able to attend a very fun post-race party at Wards Corner 10K.
